Motor magazine is still regarded as the new ambitious kid on the motoring block in South Africa growing from strength to strength from it’s launch in October 2015. The magazine’s content covers everything from aspirational super cars to budget-friendly urban run-arounds, to road tests with special travel features, car comparison reviews, forthcoming release news, bike features and other global motoring news.
Motor has been both an ambitious and dynamic motoring title, while servicing a broad readership with interesting, informative and beautifully photographed motoring content. They felt there was a big gap in the market for a motoring offering that spoke to the people who have a keen interest in cars, but who weren’t your pure ‘petrolheads’. Motor is an all-round motoring lifestyle magazine that caters for driving enthusiast that wants to be educated with sufficient technical content to form informed views.
Highbury Media was commissioned by SA’s pre-eminent retailer, The Foschini Group (TFG) to produce a subscriber-based motoring offering. Now, two-years on, Motor has made the transition from custom publication, to consumer publishing and made it onto your local magazine shelf. When they took Motor to shelves for the first time in December 2016 the response; both critically and commercially, was incredible. They have begun the process of growing the magazine’s editorial pagecount and have begun rolling out a website to take Motor and readers into the digital space. TFG’s dedicated salesteam has helped drive subscriptions, which are growing by an average of 3000 units per month in 2017. While on-shelf copy sales of Motor Magazine have also on the rise, with their ABC-audited Q2 circulation reaching 41,620. Motor’s fresh approach to informative and creative motoring content has built them a base of over 45,000 monthly readers.
